Was at friends house watching Bears game. Bears lose and we go home. As were leaving the neighbor is outside with his fuck trophy. Neighbor tells me that said fuck trophy has been throwing rocks at my car. I get home and look at the paint and sure enough, the are 3 nice chips in the paint. I am ready to murder this infant.
Misunderstood at first. Thought "fuck trophy" meant "attractive ditz wife." Made the sentence funnier.

Yeah, this is fucking retarded.

So, we have downsizing, in Afghanistan.  US soldiers are getting sent home to be replaced by security contractors that cost 4x as much so we can play the numbers games;  "We're pulling troops out!"  And spending a fucking fortune on contractors.  There are already more contractors here than there are soldiers.

So fucking retarded.

Seeing things like this make me hate the country I live in. I thought we pay police officers with our tax dollars to serve and protect us? Not run around pepper spraying people that do not need to be sprayed. Seriously, can't they use their time doing something useful like finding murderers and arresting rapists?

On a related note I also hate regexes and TA's that decide the input file format is going to be shitty and stupid with all sorts of braces and commas and no fucking line breaks.

it's what happens when people have power. What the real problem is is frequently a distorted vision of what matters (the thing that crow's posts remind us of). basically compare the activities and demeanor of suburb and inner city cops, respectively. The former drive around harassing kids for smoking pot and throwing house parties (these cops me and my friends dealt with were immeasureable dicks) while the latter realize that there are people dying, murdering, and raping out there.

with that rant being done, my interpretation of the cop in the video is that he is just personally a douche. no real thing about it, some cops and people have moral fiber and some don't. It's no different anywhere in the world.

Of course there are "bigger problems" out there. Many people living in third world countries only hope for clean water, food to eat for the day, a shelter, etc. That doesn't mean that we should just say that oh, corrupt cops, well, there are bigger problems in other countries and comparatively this is nothing so why worry. If this police officer does not receive the appropriate punishment for his actions (because I'm pretty certain what he did is not allowed as he wasn't threatened in any way by the victims) then of course he will continue on with his "corrupt cop" life and terrorize more people. Who's to say that other police officers won't join him since there is no punishment for this type of douchebag behavior? It's the possible snowball effect I am worried about with a lot of problems within our society so I don't think we should turn a blind eye on this; even if it's considered a first world problem compared to some problems of other countries, it's a problem in our society so we should do something about it.

In short, I hope bad people get what they deserve (so naive and hopeful, I know). That is all Smile

Please note that most of the cops are like most of the protestors. They're not there to start shit, they just want to protect the people and the landmarks, and they get paid hourly with overtime through all these protests, because they have union representation.

Those guys in the white uniforms are supervisors. They don't have overtime. They don't have a union. They're salaried management and they are feeling the most pressure from the City to get this taken care of. They don't see themselves as having anything in common with the protestors. And they don't have to walk a beat after this is over.

Dox got dropped on the one white-collar cop who was behind most of the violence. Thanks, Anon.

The guy in the white uniform is pretty internet famous right now. Apparently he is a senior NYPD police officer.

I'm not sure if I'm seeing the "most cops are like the protesters" from this particular protest as they are certainly not protecting the people by brutalizing the protesters. There are many videos showing the guys in "regular uniforms" using excessive force while making arrests.
I've been to the very large protests here in Madison last year and have never witnessed or heard of this type of behavior from our police. Our protests were similar to the ones in NYC, with people walking through the streets chanting and waving signs. The only difference is that we didn't get beat up for peacefully protesting :/

when I said bigger problems I was talking about pot and parties, not corrupt cops. I'm saying that shitty cops have a distorted view of what matters and what society wants from them as protectors and regulators.

Cops should be out there stopping gangs, catching murderers, running sting operations, and preventing riots instead of investigating noise complaints in the cold, hard streets of middle upper class suburbia.

I'm quite sure that interpretations of what "protectors and regulators" (alcohol is a regulated substance, no?) vary depending from person to person and what part of society you are asking.

Yeah, I'll freely admit the actions of cops can suck sometimes.  Still I'd much rather live with the consequences of having cops than the consequences of not having them.

really, I have more of a problem with laws than cops. Namely punishing adolescents (or anyone) for substance abuse because you're trying to protect them. Now, obviously drugs like meth and crack greatly hurt communities and raise crime but it's clear that our current system isn't working.

Arrrrrrgggggg....  why does nothing with this deployment go smoothly?!?  First he's going, no, he's not going, he's going, he's not going.  And now it's, he's coming home early, he's staying longer, he's coming home early, he's staying longer.  Would you guys just make up your minds so I can have an accurate countdown?!  :p
