I'm growing increasingly ashamed of my ignorance of current events. What do you consider to be the most unbiased/trustworthy news source on the internet? (I just threw out cnn and msnbc but please add what you use)

foxnews.com is fine for news stories. Most of the online article are just Associated Press stories. The TV channel isn't great though.

NPR or BBC. Both get state funding so they need to stay as objective as possible to keep from becoming a political lightning rod. AP also has incentive to be neutral so their stories can be carried by the maximum amount of news outlets. Everyone else depends on profits which are made better when being partisan and hyperbolic.

Fox News is distilled, 200 proof this-will-melt-your-eyeballs shit. CNN and MSNBC are sugar coated shit. Most news organizations operate on a 24 hour cycle that depends on getting eyeballs, its all sensationalist crap that everyone will be forgotten as soon as the next "crises" appears. I'm trying to phrase this as non-conspiracy crazy guy as possible, but the purpose of most news organizations is not to educate or inform. They're publicly traded companies, trying to turn a profit every quarter. Their purpose is to make money any way they can.
That said, like the previous posters I'd suggest NPR, BBC, and AJE (try to ignore the random omg-the-jews conspiracy stories that appear in AJE :-\). Also the Planet Money podcasts and On the Media. Or The Atlantic Monthly and The New Yorker. Life is too short to keep track of which politician was caught fucking a prostitute/sucking dongs/sending out shots of his underwear clothed dong to women oh god why do i even know this SEE THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT WHO CARES AAAAAAAAAA |
