So with a freshly dead motherboard I'm figuring I might as well get a start on my new rig to outpace this one. But that said, I'm only buying up a bit of stuff that I need out of necessity. I'm going to be running my old 8 GB of RAM, My old HDDs, in my old case and with old other stuff. So basically I am just buying a new Mobo and CPU. I am wanting to go Intel this time around for a few reasons, but namely, as much as I like my Phenom II, I'm wanting to build more of a powerhouse.

Crappy part is that with stuff like Ivy Bridge coming out, should I just get a mobo that can take all my needs and get a lowerteir Intel and then wait?

Wat Phenom do you have right now?

If that's still in good condition and you wanna sell it I might be interested? I'd like need to upgrade the CPU in one of aux. towers and it can support a Phenom II, but it can't take my 1090T and give me a cool excuse to get 1100T =/

Phenom II x3 720 black edition. Runs at 2.8 but has unlocked multi. If your mobo can do it you can use acc and try to unlock the 4th core.  My old board was able to unlock it so the chip is capable. It has only been lightly oced for a short period and has for all but 2 months, been cooled by 3rd party cooler with arctic silver.

So I'm pretty much gonna be going for a Core i5-2400 (I could care less about OC for the for the foreseable future) and a decent z68 motherboard (Multiple PCI-e 2.0 (3.0 is good too) and some USB 3.0).

With that I'll have some upgradability for the future while not crippling me for now.

Edit: I'm liking this combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealD...mbo.777666
