How do assignments go in the army? could you have gone airborne if you'd requested it or did you consider it at all?

That's one of the more fucked up things I've ever seen. I know they get done, but seeing one go off is something completely different.

So, for Regular Army: you can request Airborne school/Airborne unit with your contract, and have it written in- it's not really hard to get at all.  You can get it for doing well in your initial entry training.  Your unit can send you to the school, so you're jump qualified even though you're not in an Airborne unit.  If you have 3 free weeks and are at FT Benning, you can walk onto the school.  National Guard: you've got a pretty good chance of any of those happening as long as your state is willing to pay for it.  Reserve: none of these are happening, only way you're going to Airborne School is if you're in an Airborne unit that jumps regularly.

When I talked to a recruiter they were like "oh yeah we can enlist you as an 18X and you'll get a $34,000 enlistment bonus"

Then I started researching the selection pipeline.....

I dunno, the main reason I did this, is it's usually the other way around, where the customer is the annoyance in the situation. Like asking for paper for five cans. Or bringing in a ton of shitty worn out reusable bags that are a pain in the ass to load up and waste everyone's time.

those big bundles on the hood are parachutes.  That's the simple answer.

they can do it with Armor too.

It doesn't always workout as planned, there's plenty of videos of these things going wrong.

There's a couple minutes in here about dropping vics.  The video is old, but airdrops haven't exactly changed.

Wow, it's weird watching C-130s that aren't trailing a quartet of black smoke.

Maybe someone here can help. My wife wants one of those hoodies that zip all the way up (so your face is basically covered). She saw it on some korean shows or something. Anyways turns out they are really hard to find and they don't have a set name yet (they are called full zip, mask hoodies, or zip all the way up hoodies depending, but sometimes these refer to other kinds of hoodies as well). The ones I have found are creepy, nerdy in a way she probably won't be into (I think there were some ones that when you zipped them all the way up you became a zombie or darth vader), or made for kids. I was hoping to find a cute and or stylish one that she could wear anywhere.

I'll be looking but if anyone has any info let me know. If I find one in the meantime I will let you guys know.
