As effective as the big government of China is in cracking down on speech and firewalling and stuff, it is fascinating to think this is the same government that can't get the toxins out of toys and other exports.
Does this suggest that policing public health and environmental safety concerns are impossible for even the largest existing communist regime on the planet to control? And thus pointless to waste public money on? Maybe it suggests that the anti-socials running businesses there are slightly smarter and more clever than the anti-socials in their government? |

I think it suggests that it's cheaper to pay an official to turn a blind eye to your health and safety violations than it is to follow regulations. Anti-socials in government are a threat to power, while anti-socials in business probably aren't. |

Government time and again has proven itself undeserving of the power it wields. From the tyrannical monarchies of medieval England to Stalinist Russia. From Nazi Germany to the Cambodian killing fields. Tiananmen Square to Occupy Wall Street. All government oppressing the people. Love the firm, they are super progressive in the way they work from the new associate programs to the way they pay. The only problem is they only do employment law, but they just added an antitrust practice as a part of that. So maybe I can fit in there. Also maybe I will end up loving employment law.
