Deluxe Editions a buncha expiable items/stuff I don't care for and the collector's edition is more money than I can spend. Though I'm throwing money down for the basic edition the moment preorders open so I can get in the betas.

Also on that note, I never got the "pre-order and get a headstart" thing some devs do. I mean unless they stop accepting preorders 3 days to release, what's the difference between allowing pre-orderers to play 3 days early and just releasing the game 3 days early?

i'd get the collector's edition but i can't afford it seeing as i just quit my job because i never want to be associated with my employer again. unfortunately that also puts a damper on my plans to build a new PC for this game.

So shots of the ingame cash shop were leaked today.







In a nutshell, the items are bought with "gems" which are bought with real currency. ArenaNet is letting people freely trade gems and gold in via the marketplace, so anything that can only be bought with gems can still be acquired without any cash purchases. Items bought through gems were said to not give any player any advantage over those who don't, though the experience and crafting boosts raise some concerns. That's easily explained because of PvP and WvW matches boosting players levels to 80 with all skills and gear available, so no matter how you deal with in PvE, you're on even playing grounds in PvP or WvW.

you only get max-level gear and all skills unlocked in PvP, in WvW you're upped to max level but still only have the skills and gear you had in PvE. We'll just need to see what the conversion rate is between gems and real money.

Okay so it seems the Gems to Gold exchange rate is gunna be monitored throughout the day.

i'm really more interested in what the dollar to gem ratio is, gem to gold prices will always fluctuate and pretty much never be static

edit: some info on gems. it's $1 for 100 gems. so it's 10 cents per gem. $20 for 2000 gems, $4 for 400 gems, etc.
