HA! Like education is affected by the market. If anything it should be more capitalistic. Schools need a swift reminder that YOU the student are their customer and should treat you as such. Right now, schools are just sucking the sweet sweet dick of federal loan money.

Take a restaurant for example. Imagine if a restaurant denied you service because you didn't show them the receipts for the last 3 restaurants you ate at? How long would they stay in business?

I eagerly await the opening of U of Dtrain, the school that lets in anyone, regardless of their qualifications, as long as they can afford the bill.  I think we'd get some really top-notch graduates out of that place.

I love this feeling of entitlement, on both sides.

It's a fucking education. If you REALLY want it, you HAVE to fight for it. Follow up with admissions office, follow up on applications for scholarships, make sure you have your i's dotted and t's crossed over and over and over and over. Dtrain's concept of making it free-market doesn't fly when you've got for-profit colleges advertising for useless degrees. Ones that are worthwhile don't advertise, and don't make it easy to get in. But when you're done, you've got a piece of paper that's made from your blood, sweat, and tears and you've actually LEARNED something instead of having it handfed to you (a la our normal public school system, or a 'free college' system).

Man up, chin up, don't give up, etc.

I'm riding the Van Galder bus since they are the only ones with a Madison to O'Hare route. I get a nice student discount with them too.
That sucks about your bike issues, hopefully the buses work out (again, I've never gone from Appleton to O'Hare so I don't even know if the route actually exists)

but when you go to buy a ticket it just says "Chicago" with no way to choose where it's going? Am I just retarded and don't know how the buses work?

Nevermind I figured out I had to type in Cumberland Avenue when I'm searching. Unfortunately it's like 8 bucks more but that's not a huge deal.
