I did a full scan after getting hacked and it picked up some java exploits. Now MSE is stuck trying to remove them. What should I do? The progress bar is about 3/4 done but it isn't moving. Should I restart and try again?

I also got Malware Bytes. Should I just use that?

What should I do?

Let it go for an hour and it finished, running Malware bytes to make sure I'm clean.

Run all your scans in safe mode.

So I'm kind of an idiot and can't seem to figure out how to do this. Holding F8 just gets me to a window that says which drive do you want to boot from.

You are triggering your motherboards boot select, so choose your normal boot drive then continue hammering f8 and you should get the windows boot menu right after.

OK I followed rilnac's advice and managed to get it into safe mode. Scans show I'm clean now. Any other steps I should take?

future reference, demonspork and i are computer technicians that do remote support. we'd be more than happy to help you with your issues, if you ever have a problem like this again, just pm us in IRC. it's better than hoping you got rid of the issue, because we're about 100% sure we can fix almost anything remotely, we're pretty awesome at it. just make sure you highlight us, or we might not see it, we both tend to read IRC more than we talk in it.

Also, i'd run CCleaner, make sure you run the registry cleaner as well, it helps with removing the rest of the traces of infections sometimes.
