Your post reminded me that I drank bourbon and sweet tea this past weekend. It is very refreshing.

In the liquor barn the day, as I was making my choice in the bourbon aisle, there was a man there (obviously not from around here) who had one of the employees describing the different bourbons there. And this man said something to the effect of, "I want something local- something very 'Kentucky', which ones are made locally?" And as I reached for a bottle of Buffalo Trace (it was next in line, I'm just going down the aisle), I caught the look on the employee's face (he's one of the older fellows who works there, very knowledgeable) -like he was struggling with something internal, like a small rage was building inside him, he'd pursed his lips, looked both ways down the aisle, and replied, "This is Kentucky; they're all local."Â
I took my bottle and left, chuckling. |

Friends, I wish to speak upon you, truth.Â
Verily, a day will come where you are forced to look upon Life, and he will look most melancholy. But, he will greet you as a friend, and he will say unto you, "Friend, I have known you long and well, and most wish to produce upon you the fruits of your laborious endeavors." And you will be glad, for you have labored most industriously and think that bountiful reapings are upon you, and you will say to Life as a friend, "Yes, Life, bestow upon me all that I deserve." And Life will wear the face not of melancholy but of happiness and will give unto you, Lemons. "Fruit of thine labors, delivered unto you." And you be much besmirched and ill of content. And you will say unto Life, "While as much a lemon is fruit, I do not deny my disappointment, for I sought an outcome much sweeter." And Life will not reply, because he is busy trying not to laugh at you. And Here, my good friends, is the moment upon which you will define yourself. Should you humbly accept Life's unjust citrus gift, hang thine head, wear the brow of a worried man, for unglad tidings will surely follow you, preying upon you as the lion devours the sickly wildebeest. No, my friends, accept not the Lemons of Life. Not even in the pursuit of incendiary citrus. You must do thusly: Slap the lemons from Life's hand. Speak upon Life with the rage that burns like the fires fed by the fat corpses of your enemies, say unto him, "No! I will not take your unworthy fruit! I will not have it! My productive and industrious nature will not settle for the sour of citrus, nor the sweetness of berries. You owe me steak, motherfucker." And Life will attempt to rally his fortitude and rebuke your demands, but you will have none of it! Seize life by the collar! "I will have my ribeye! and mashed potatoes with butter, sour cream and cheese! And a Beer equal to three of the beers of Lesser Men, and I will have it now! Or I will smite you, I will smite you so hard you shall be Smote, and you will wish I hadn't smote you." And be you a man of righteousness, vigor, and the ironclad threat of violence, Life will cower, and surrender. And then you shall have dinner. |

We had a party today with some co-workers and I got to try a few more new beers.
This one was my favorite: New Belgium Brewing Co's Somersault It tasted similar to 3Floyds's Gumballhead. Really fruity and tasty. And I was disappointed by Capitol Brewery's seasonal Weizen It was too light for me and failed to make an impression. Oh, and we now own four 6pks of Tsingtao beer from a friend. It basically tastes like pee water since light beers are all the rage in China. ask me about mpreg |

So, I just want to say, on a beer note;
if you come to Colorado before the end of the year or so, let me know. If you can find the time, come up to Fort Collins, there are so many great breweries to visit and a bar with 100 beers on tap within walking distance of my house. Not to mention college shenanigans and plenty of room to crash. Also, a fantastic beer if you can get it: http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/brew/red...w-pale-ale |

Tried this for the first time yesterday: http://tommyknocker.com/Tundrabeary_Summer_Ale.html
The berry flavor was sweet and strong, but not cloyingly so. Was surprisingly refreshing, and could probably drink a few of this without getting sick of them (unlike many other fruit-infused beers). Not as refreshing as a Watermelon Wheat, but not bad for a hot summer evening. |

There's this local brewery called Storm. I've never had any of their beer, but one a recent trip to buy beer, there was a stand full of their stuff. Intrigued, I decided to pick up a 650 ml Raspberry Wheat Ale from them.
BY GOD WAS IT GOOD. Like full taste of raspberries, and a good to great drinking beer. |
