Sitting in the airport, waiting for my flight to Yellowknife, NWT. I'll be 100 miles from the arctic circle.

Since there are no railroads and the only trucking route has melted, I can only guess at how expensive it will be there.

This place is fucked up.

Since its a mining town, wages are very high. Land and building materials are scarce so houses are extremely expensive. A trailer in a park is above $300k.

I saw a literal shed with an Escalade parked outside. Homes that are actual buildings are in disrepair. There are more people living in tents then at an Occupy camp, only these guys are possibly employed.

Oh, and its almost 10pm and the sun is still 30 degrees above the horizon.

I am as I drive around. I am here to work so most of my day is limited to working indoors, no phones or cameras allowed.

I saw a couple of the drivers from the show Ice road Truckers at the Tim Horton's no pics as I was on my way into work.

I'll have to wait until I get home to upload photos as I get dial up upload speed from the hotel.
