I think the idea is that there is a profound difference between people abusing themselves for personal glory and a government abusing its people for the furtherment of the government's agenda.

I posted an article I said I liked.  There was no idealogical or political implications at all and it somehow became a one-sided argument where I was clearly in the wrong.
