there's no such thing as a good moba  8)
edit: i'm going to be serious for a moment because i feel the same way matter does about this. To go even further than that, I refuse to play a game that requires you to memorize builds like League of Lemmings (and I can only imagine that dota does as well). And it's not just one build you need to memorize. It seems like if you don't know ALL of the characters in play and how to build against them, you're eternally a noob. That isn't good gameplay, that's a korean time sink. And if I wanted to waste time like that, I'd grind Tera endgame (which would actually be somewhere close to fun, considering the combat doesn't suck). There are times when it's better to just say no. mobas like that are one fine example. 'Meditation is supposedly the only way to Enlightenment because the only way to find this truth is through inner reflection - therefore, what you are finding to be the truth in your personal journey should ultimately be exactly what I find to be the truth, though all of our journeys are unique.'

so because a game has a deeper learning curve than hat fortress two it's a bad game?
granted you did just say that treadmill gaming tera is fun (04-09-2013, 11:24 PM)Dr. Zaius link Wrote:well i'm not really understanding how it's faster internet. and like google just magically rolls outs this stuff and it's 100 times faster than my internet? why? that doesn't set off any alarms to anyone?
There's a difference between learning curves and having to just memorize the characteristics and dmg numbers of 100+ people and items. There's a learning curve of developing intuitive decision making, which is fun, but you have to deal with continually learning the builds that are most efficient mathematically as the game gets updated. |

At a basic level all you really need to do to be well off is know what each hero can do. You don't need to know specific damage numbers or items or abilities. I don't know specific damage numbers. If you're trying to imply that ever beginner knows all the heroes, that's funny. And since when have you ever had to memorize builds? Fuck you guys are trying so hard to justify not liking something cause you don't want to read for a few minutes.

Yeah if you're even slightly good at the game you come up with builds as you go. It's as simple as knowing what item would be good in what situation, with a few edits based on what hero/role you're playing. No one memorizes builds unless they're shit or just learning a hero. |

I'm also talking about knowing the math like whether attack damage, attack speed, or armor penetration should be the next item in your build. |

Knowing what an item does helps. Don't treat the game like a science project. What matters in the end is good farm and even better teamwork. |
Optimizing damage is really not complicated. Start off with a damage item like battle fury or desolator, then go for some attack speed from butterfly, mask of madness, assault cuirass, etc. After that you'll be hitting pretty damn hard so get survivability such as BKB followed by an orb effect item if you don't have one yet. Obviously this is different from what a pro would do and may not apply to some carries but for low and mid level games you'll do just fine. Also if you're carrying and aren't great at last hitting go for fast phase boots. You'll get less late-game dps but the ease of last hitting early to mid will more than make up for it plus you get a bit of survivability from the speed buff. |
