Does anyone know any brand of clothing that makes high quality T-shirts and other casual clothes without any sort of branding or other craziness. This is going to sound really hipster but ever since I read pattern recognition I've sort of adopted the idea that I don't really want to run around sporting some companies brand to make me feel cool. I just want some really nice clothes with either plain colors or color blocking that feel good to be in. I have some American Eagle plain color shirts that I love because they are of course plain but also because the colors are really nice. I also have another AE shirt that has a decent thickness without being too heavy and is super comfortable to wear, but it's a little crazy on the graphics. I was hoping to buy some clothes that had both characteristics.

In truth man, I struggle with the same thing. Most of the clothing I find come from stores that aren't pushing a lifestyle on you when you walk through the door. There's a correlation to what your looking for and the investment put into mass produced clothing by companies. Time to get out of the mall. Sidenote: It's a hell of a thing to find Canadian made clothing :/

I know what you mean, Surf, I like that kind of plain/unadvertised feel to my shirts as well. AE sells some that are plain, but you'll always have the logo stitched somewhere. I don't mind the logo but anything more is no deal.

And having the logo is more than made up for by how fucking comfortable these shirts are omg

I don't mind the logo somewhere unobtrusive. Also AE has the most comfortable shirts I've worn so far.

long gone are the days when my mom used to go to the states and bring back pretty cool shirts and i'd see the price tag be like "$30 $25 $15 !!!"
now i have to spend a lot of fucking money on just a few pieces of clothing

Make your own.

Sounds annoying, but in the end it isn't all that hard.

Get one of your old shirts that you like the fit of and don't mind cutting up. Cut along all the seams to make patterns out of the pieces (cut up along the side seams and along any other sewn seam you can find). Get some fabric. You can find some pretty cheap and decent fabric if you look around a little. Fabric warehouses are good.

Then lay the pieces you cut down on the fabric and use them as your cutting patterns. Leave yourself some seam allowance, and get sewing.

Nordstrom has really high quality material in their clothes but they make you pay out the nose. I looked at a plain white tee in store and it was like $40. The material felt really luxurious but $40 for a plain white tee? I'll stick to athletic attire while I'm still young enough to wear it every day.

That's an ideal time to do what Luin was saying. High quality fabrics are not difficult or prohibitively expensive in craft stores, if you're willing to put in the time/effort to learn to use a sewing machine. I'm super duper thankful for my middle school home ec classes that taught me, and my mom who forced me to sew all my boy scout patches on myself after I knew how. And a decent singer is like $100, will last forever.

Not anymore. Any plastic machine you buy will break within a year of general use.
What you want is a steel machine, be it Singer, Brother, etc, from a yard sale.
Find something with a universal motor mount and belt drive, it will make it as flexible as possible.

I'll second this.  All of my t-shirts are woot t-shirts.  They're cheap but still of a good quality, look interesting/cool, and tend to be pretty darn unique.  The only place on the shirt that has a logo is the tag in the back, so if you really don't want any brand, you can just cut it off and no one will be the wiser.

Except the old ones won't do fancy stitching, finishing, and buttons.
