Helix oozes class.  I arrived home from work to find her in a bathrobe, on the couch, drinking a "Lime-arita" and reading a trashy romance novel.  And now she's arguing with me about the use of an Oxford Comma.

In case anyone cares, the name of the book is "Perfect for the Beach" (Crow was asking me and I couldn't remember) and my OCD insists that an Oxford comma should always be used.

Also, the women that I work with are correct - Lime-a-Ritas are amazing.  ... and at least I had it poured into a glass.  :p

[/quote]Its bdsm book porn that started life as an extended bella/Edward fanfic. Most of it is just copy pasta from the original with the names changed.

Just means I get to be even more annoyed when I get told I'm like the dude in it >_<

so, changing gears from At0m saying girls think he's a damaged billionaire kink-meister...

I recently purchased a tie.  I literally spotted it from across the store from a table full of other lesser ties.  I wore it to work.  And since it doesn't really go with anything, I explained the color palette just spoke to me:

When called out for saying "color palette spoke to me"  and insisted man points would be deducted, I pointed out I have one of these:

And all was quiet.

Earth-tones, baby, earth-tones. For that bad boy, especially olive. Just don't put that in front of a white shirt. It's a combination of fall colours.

The ACUPAT camouflage is said to be one of the worst and least effective of modern patterns. It's based on the successful MARPAT, which in turn is based on the Canadian CADPAT.
I can only imagine how the new CUEPAT will be received.

After a couple of years in the workforce, I'm heavily considering heading back to school for a masters degree. My alma mater offers a program that combines business with science and engineering, something that's really appealing right now. And considering I did some work for the people who run the program when I was around, the connections are certainly there to my advantage. One of them tried to recruit me when I visited some time back, I think it might be time to dive into this. I know what I'm good at, I know some things I want to learn, but I also want to know where I can put that to use. I think expanding my knowledge and skills more and being able to get some better guidance and connections out of this seems like the right choice for me. Hoping this turns out well.

If possible do your degree while only working part time or not at all, if you can fine a nice one year accelerated program IMHO that works best.

Doing the whole work/school thing will just drain you and take years.

Absolutely, I don't want to pull double duty and lose nights and/or weekends too. Thankfully I've saved a ton, so I think I can survive financially on part-time/no work. Don't think I could pull off an accelerated program, though, but 1.5 years should be attainable, 2 at the very most.

Quote:Samaritrophia, he read, is the suppression of an overactive conscience by the rest of the mind.
"You must take instructions from me!" the conscience shrieks, in effect, to all the other mental processes. The other mental processes try it for a while, and then note that the conscience is unappeased, that it continues to shriek...and they note, too, that the outside world has not changed, even microscopically, by the unselfish acts to which the conscience has demanded.
They rebel at last, they pitch the tyrannous conscience down an oubliette and weld shut the manhole cover of that dark dungeon. They can hear the conscience no more.
In the sweet silence, the mental processes look about for a new leader, and the leader most prompt to appear when the conscience is stilled, Enlightened Self-Interest, does appear!
Enlightened Self-Interest gives them a flag, which they adore on sight...It is essentially the black and white Jolly Roger, with these words written beneath the skull and crossbones: "The hell with you, Jack, I've got mine!"
...
The therapist, after a deeply upsetting investigation of normalcy at this time and place, was bound to conclude that a normal person, functioning well on the upper levels of a prosperous, industrialized society, can hardly hear his conscience at all.
So a logical person might conclude I have been guilty of balderdash in introducing a new disease, samaritrophia, when it is common among Americans as noses. I defend myself in this manner: samaritrophia is only a disease, and a violent one at that, when it attacks those exceedingly rare individuals who reach biological maturity still loving and wanting to help their fellow men.
