Guild Wars 2 | Fear Not This Night (ft. Asja)

Something is stirring in the Sea of Sorrows – and we want to make sure that you are not missing out, so here is a schedule (without spoilers) for you, so you can plan ahead:
On Friday November 16th at noon PST (20:00 GMT) the weekend will kick off with an Event in Lion’s Arch that you don’t want to miss. This will trigger events in other parts of Tyria as well.
*On Saturday November 17th at noon PST (20:00 GMT), another phase will kick in.
Each phase is triggered by a special event, but you will be able to enjoy additional content afterwards even if you cannot make the kick-off time. There is one exception:
The event will culminate in a big Finale on Sunday November 18, make sure you will not miss it. This will be a onetime only event chain that will run multiple hours, and it will kick off at noon PST (20:00 GMT). Again, this will only run once, so make sure you will be there! There will be plenty of content available to enjoy that will remain permanently in the world as a result of the outcome of this event on Sunday.

I'd like to do some CoF runs. The gear looks smoking, and has some great stats.

I just had 5 or 6 people chase me around a borderlands map in wvw for like 30 minutes after I picked off their supply caravan. Thief sword 2 is awesome for juking people. Especially when you use it before you jump off a cliff. Wait til they all follow, return to the top.

The ‘Fractals of the Mist’ dungeon is a result of all the lessons ArenaNet has learned from developing the game’s initial dungeon offerings as well as the feedback they’ve received from players on dungeon content since launch. Players will enter the Fractals of the Mist dungeon via a central hub that will feature an assortment of amenities such as repair NPCs and other merchants. Once players have gathered their party members, they will be launched into one of the nine ‘fractals’ that will be randomly selected for each group.


Every other set of three fractals that players complete will initiate a special boss fight along the lines of Tequatl the Sunless or The Shatterer.

Time to freak the hell out about "ascended armor" with very little actually known about it.

Seriously, people were complaining about a lack of progression, so ArenaNet throws in something to help that. Suddenly everyone's up in arms. I swear, the gw2 community is more abusive to ArenaNet than the tf2 one is to Valve.

Also, it looks like Anet is going back on their word on there being no gear treadmill. And not only is it just a gear treadmill, you can't do the new dungeons without it. I don't even have exotic gear yet. I guess I'll have to wait to see how everything works out.

You're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't. People are complaining the game itself is too grindy anyway, with completely horizontal progression at level 80. You aren't going to be replacing all of your gear with Ascended items yet, though, you'll only be replacing rings and backpieces with Ascended items. Rings drop in the new dungeon, and the backpieces can be made via the Mystic Forge.

This is exactly what existed in Guild Wars 1 (the condition is even the exact same) at a certain point in your story you had the option to get your armor infused to prevent the condition from ever happening (-6 health degeneration as well as 200 damage) and you COULD continue throughout the game without it, but it made it a real bitch.

The stat increase is literally not even that noticeable, in the example given you're literally only getting 5 extra points in each stat, and 3% extra in magic find. If people seriously start excluding people from anything because you don't have Ascended gear, they're fucking stupid and I hope they quit the game. (let's ignore the fact that you can't even inspect people to see if they don't have Ascended gear)

It also seems, based on their wording, that you won't even encounter the new condition Agony until you delve into the harder difficulties of the new dungeon. I assume they'll also be adding some of the changes to dungeons they wanted to do, namely: Increased boss variety in abilities for their large health pools, and improved loot tables. Also wouldn't be surprised if the first part of the event is like the Mad King's scavenger hunt and leads to you getting a guaranteed Ascended item.

I can no longer launch the game. Went from random CTD to crashing every time the patcher loads character select
I've tried checkdisk, updating graphics drivers after completely clearing the current ones, memtest, updating my memory clock settings in my bios, repairing my guild wars archive.

repairing my archive one last time and if it doesn't work i guess i'm going to completely reinstall guild wars.
if that doesn't work I'm almost ready to bust out my old 4890 and install that and see if that will fix it. maybe i'll try some older drivers for my current card and see what happens first.

trying gigabyte's graphics driver instead of ATI's

We should have a "Get Generic this Game" Fund.  I got like 9 or 10 hours of free GW2, and then its gone until I buy it or another free thing comes up.
