Due to the nature of yogurt, it's generally fine until it tastes off.
It's not dangerous like canned products, tomatoes or rice where you generally cannot tell when its 'bad'.

The expiration date is not anything set in stone and its more for stores than for you. The date is so that stores don't sell it past a date when you likely wouldn't consume it in due order.

Its also giving a most conservative estimate so they never sell anything stale/spoiled
