so, there was a gun buyback in L.A. and some smart person turned in a LAW tube and an expended AT-4.

And the media is so damn fixated that someone turned in "rocket launchers" that were floating around L.A.

Seriously?  What amazes me is the LAPD paid good money for trash.  Literally.  Those things are disposable.  You don't try to reload them if you want to live.  Someone picked their nifty trophy they've had stuffed in the back of their garage that they were never supposed to make it off the range with and got the LAPD to take care of their problem for them, and got paid for it.

I keep meaning to go to a gun buyback and see if I can find anything rare or historical and save them from the furnace

I think I saw several M1 Garands on the table.  Which is infuriating.

yeah, I was thinking about your idea of setting up shop outside the police station and trying to buy guns off people walking in.

I wonder what kind of permitting you'd need.  Also, how much do the police usually offer for weapons?

Depends on the state. In most states, Face to Face sales between private citizens is totally legal. There's a gun rights group in Nebraska who did it during a buyback out here raised like 2 grand by buying the guns for like 50 bucks cash a pop then reselling them on Gunbroker. I've seen some departments hand out $100 gift cards and some give out nothing. So it's all highly dependent on the situation.

i don't think Lexington would ever actually host a buy back program.  But if they do I'm taking a couple grand in cash down there and turning a profit.

Worked overtime tending to some dumb customers. Fuming. Angry. Can't wait to get home.
Saw too late that in my eagerness, I had passed a black-and-white Highway Patrol car.
Spent a good few minutes on the side of the road holding onto the bike with my ass while the patrolman made me sweat icicles.

Got off with a warning because my record is squeaky clean.

[/quote]The beginning of the credits. Was trying to figure out how they were going to wedge the rest of the story into the 'last hour' (wasn't watching my watch very closely, and I'd assumed it was a 3.5 hour movie, and that I was 2.5 hours into it), then the credits started rolling and I nearly screamed "SERIOUSLY?"

But yeah, diligent ignoring of all of the advertisements, all of the discussion of my friends other than 'it's really good!', and all of the spoilers, because I didn't want to know what they'd done to it to adapt it to film ahead of time. And instead of being pleasantly surprised, I'm sad.

It was kinda nice seeing it in IMAX 3D in an otherwise empty theater, though. Late show on Thursday night three weeks after the movie comes out FTW.
