It was a horrible 168 hours.

My typical schedule is

I wake up at 10:00, maybe 9:30 at the earliest to attend easy college classes.  Afterword I might have another class but otherwise I break for lunch.  I play video games with my friends until dinner time.  After that I need to wind down, so I play more video games, possibly toke up.  On weekends I go to parties and go to sleep at maybe 3:00, 4:00 am.

This week I've been up at 6:00, to the gym at 7:00, done sometime after 8:00, then I dick around at work until 10:15, when I actually start work. Then I'm stuck until 6:10. Tonight, I'll have to drive a half-hour out to a friend's afterwards for dinner, then come back and do it all again tomorrow and saturday.

Fucking six day work week...

If you want to continue on for a PhD, generally you want to get your grad degrees from somewhere other than your undergrad. At least that's what I was always told.

I've always wondered if this was just one of those standards that no one really has a good reason for but people just seem to maintain.  I know plenty of people who stayed at Miami for masters.  Fuck. one of them stayed in the same fucking dorm room as the past 2 years of undergrad. (Before you hate- the man is a beast, was always in better shape than me even at my prime right out of OCS and now makes 6 figures in DC.)  I digress.  Fuck all this nonsense, if you're school has a good program, stay there.  If someone questions your decision during an interview for a job or PHD, tell them that if that's the deciding factor, then they're fucking morons and you'll be happy to dodge the bullet of having to deal with their stupid asses for several years.

Also, fuck me, I got zero sleep last night, worked out, hard, to try to wear myself out and it's fucking midnight and I'm not tired.

I woke up an hour ago from a dream where one of the machines that I work on at work killed both myself and my girlfriend. Can't fall back asleep.

You know, I had a similar dream last night. I was freezing, living in some house that faced a giant mall/complex. I saw that my front door was open, and went out to see who opened it. The door swung out to the left, and when I looked to my my left around the door, moving in to strike, was a giant fucking mountain cat. Tried to close the door, but dream stopped there. My body had instinctively triggered fight or flight in the dream, and I was up, my feet, face and left shoulder cold to the touch. I had left my window open a little too wide. I've never seen a mountain cat outside of videos and pictures. The detail was unsettling. I decided 6 hours was enough sleep.

It was like Groundhog Day meets Final Destination as I tried over and over to save her, only to either get maimed myself by the machine or injure myself so severely escaping it that I couldn't stop it from killing her. And in the dream I knew I'd never love again, after having seen my love die by my own creation. I couldn't rewind the dream enough to lock out the machine and prevent it from moving and injuring us, because what I wanted to show her was the machine in operation. That part of the dream was fixed and unchangeable.

Work is killing my love life? Follow correct safety procedures? Pride in my work will kill me? I don't even know what to take from this.
