Tonight, after the impact wrench failed to loosen the 2 of the lugs on Helix's car, I got out the lug wrench, put my back into it.  ....And mangled the inside of the locking lug key.  So. Much. Fuck.  

I'm going to find out who had that wheel off last, and shove an impact wrench up their ass for torquing those lugs that much.

At the risk up being unpopular, get rid of the fucking lock nuts. The system is waste of money when all it takes to remove your $75 locknut set is a $7 remover socket. Also, if that lock nut is shattered, just sacrifice the stud. Minus the labour, they're only 15 bucks to replace in most cases.

My wheels had a locking nut on them I took those off. Now I'm pretty sure the fucknuts at the tire place over torqued them when I got my tires replaced

The dealership was the last place to have that wheel off.  I had a short conversation with the service manager that ended with me pulling out the mangled lug key.  "yeah... maybe that was on too tight."  I let them get it off.  And took off the rest of the locking lugs too.

Our Cat likes to leave home for days at a time, but the most he's ever been gone is 3 days.
This time around though we're on day 4, and the worst part is last night I had this completely terrible, gory, realistic and all around terrifying nightmare that I found my completely mangled cat barely clinging onto life at our front door..
I've got that image burned into my brain!
