Stands are empty and the play is terrible because very few countries outside the US actually give a shit about American Football. They care for the far better sport(s). Such as Soccer (A.K.A. Real Football) (#1), Rugby (#2), and Hockey (#3) (listed in order of international popularity, reverse Hockey and Rugby and you have my preference). |
Yea... as much as I love hockey, it isn't ~that~ big of an international sport. P much only countries were it's cold for long months at a time. Once you take away the Scandanavia, Some parts of Eastern Russia, NA, and GER/SWI, It really isn't that big. |
I don't consider any game that ends in a 0-0 tie to be a real sport. Soccer is for 8 year olds so mommy can bang pool boy in peace.
So you consider something that is 40 minutes of standing, 10 minutes of play, and 3 hours of bullshit to be a sport? At least soccer, and hockey are almost always moving, there's always something happening on the field/pitch/ice. And rugby involves more movement than normal football as well, also, less pads, and more contact. I don't consider anything where the play is required to stop every 30 seconds to be a sport. And while yes basketball, and football both have "game delays". It is the referees' responsibility in soccer to ensure play continues, if any stoppage does occur, time gets added at the end of half or end of match, if any player is obviously intentionally creating a delay of game it runs a risk of a yellow, then potentially a red card. Soccer, hockey, and even rugby are the only sports I actually will enjoy watching on television. While I will always GO to a sports game (of any type), but that's only because it's like a giant party with thousands of people and that shit's fun. Yeah I'm a brown's fan, but I barely watch, I'm an OSU fan, but I barely watch, in fact, my family has barred me from watching any OSU football games due to insane sports superstition (every game I have ever watched OSU has lost). If you know what's going on, soccer is a great sport to watch, with lots of strategy and plays (yes plays) that are constantly formulated, changed, and carried out through the course of a game. foot ball is a coin flip every 5 minutes, for 10 seconds "play", and the rest is commercialization. It's only popular in the united states because of the advertisers who pay millions for ad spots in football games, especially big ones. This is where the sport makes its money, and it's advertised the hell out of, the games themselves, the products, the players. The game has been sensationalized beyond what it really is because it helps drive ad revenue, nothing more. College football is only marginally better than this... very marginally... Pro football is the largest representation of capitalism working it's magic in this country... it's not a sport... at least not anymore. I would rather go back to the days of leather helmets, and the field goals being in front of the end zone... which, you know, might as well be rugby... so fuck it, I'll watch rugby.
