This *should* be working now, it should ask you to vote 3min before the map ends.

If this does not work, please let me know the circumstances around it

This does not work because people vote for the worst map possible.

One time only arena maps and oilfield were on the list.  The server went from full to 8 people in a few minutes.

There needs to be some way that at least two non-shitty, well-known maps (most stocks, labor, warpath2, etc.) are on the list.

Dunno if it was this particular vote plugin, but one of them out there definitely allows you to divide maps into several different categories, and then have a map from each category show up during voting. That way you can have a stocks category, a common customs, uncommon customs, and OMG WHY ARE WE PLAYING THIS customs.

It is good to have 2 or 3 maps that are often being played on the server. This way people will associate those maps with the server, which gives them a better chance of remembering the server and results in them coming back. Just make those maps good, and people will come in. Even when some abnormal map is being played, people who have played the regular maps before on the server will still come in.

I don't think this is possible with the current map vote system. What Duck said sounds pretty spiffy though.

In conclusion, I don't know if I think that I know what I'm talking about.
