You mean ex-intern, I'm pretty sure the intern got fired faster than 3x10^8 m/s
Funny as it was(I laughed), it was also extremely inappropriate and racist.

True but if the press release is to be believed then that was not the intern's fault, he just missed the joke and approved the names.  Someone else is the mastermind...

I'm gonna have to be the buzzkill here and say not funny at all really, people died and were seriously hurt, not really something you use as an opportunity to make racist jokes.

All right, I'm going to have to stomp all over your freaking PC parade here:

A plane crashed, and two people died. That's bad.

An NTSB intern- a lowly, underpaid college student who has probably spent the summer sorting staples and having his intelligence generally insulted by the Federal Government, convinced a regional news affiliate to say "Something wrong, we too low, holy fuck, bang ding ow" on the air.  That's not insulting to Asians, that's not disparaging to the people who died in the crash, or the people who lived through it.  It's fucking funny.  Because the people at that affiliate are fucking morons.  We laugh not because an accident happened but because these guys got absolutely shit fucked at something they are (shouldn't be) paid to do. And despite what people tell you, it's OK to laugh when perfectly intelligent people fuck up in such an epic manner- the shame is a motivating factor in learning.

"But LT Crow, it's not how you think, it's how others might perceive it."  Yeah, and a big part of getting along is knowing when to tell people they're reading too far into things/need to lighten the fuck up.

[/quote]This.  Did you really think I was calling the actual tragedy or the coverage of the greatest thing?  If this had been the list of pilots for an emergency landing that everyone survived it would be the exact same; someone got obvious joke names past a lot of people (or maybe no one) at the National Transportation Safety Board and this tv station.  Which is why I said "true" at "inappropriate", because someone somewhere is making jokes about this tragedy, but somewhere else people are dropping the ball repeatedly.

But the names were funny...
