When DR Strings hooked me up, I got a variety pack with a set of bass strings and a set of acoustic strings which I have no instruments for. Those have gone out to friends and co-workers along with a couple of the electric guitar sets. I have converted 2 gamers to the cult of Rocksmith.

But doesn't it seem like Valve is really attempting to bridge the gap between Console and PC, I mean hell, one of the biggest features of SteamOS is you can play your PC games from your SteamMachine... they're trying to bring the console peasants to our level! (though they could never compete, we all know it).

Yes and no, the SteamBox from my understanding is one of the following

• Cheap HTPC you build yourself, streams from a macho gaming rig
  
• Mid-Level PC thats just hooked up to the TV
  
• Completely Upgradable/Customizable
  

If I can open it and swap parts, its not a console, there's no standard. Whens the last time someone took apart a playstation and upgraded the video card?  :p

Its more along the lines of making HTPCs more viable since you generally can't stuff powerful enough hardware into them to do more than emulation or old games.

SteamOS means you can make whatever you want into a SteamMachine. They haven't released specs yet for them, and will be running with several hardware manufacturers, so my guess is that you'll see everything from a cheap HTPC up through a full gaming rig that can run games natively.
