Joshua Tree National Park is a nice detour around that area. |

One week is enough time to get to the East coast and back. The biggest problem is that no matter which direction you pick you're going to end up driving for hours in super boring desert. New Mexico might be the worst. |

That's because it's just a DNS roundrobin, not something that will always give you a working server. If you reconnect, it'll probably send you to a different server though, so it's handy to use.
