Strategy games like Starcraft have really fallen victim to the micro arms race where you have to be able to do shit like this to compete. I'd really love it if they built a game where most of the micro is automated by default and winning comes down to actually having well designed bases and shit.

Ding Ding Ding Winner.    That was exactly what the article was about.    They state these 'pro' gamers make around 20 movements per second which is crushing their wrists in the process.    I literally was taken back by it until I saw the video post below the article.    No wonder I got my ass handed to me as I did nor did I think that was even humanley possible.  Mind blown!

micro exists to turn inferior forces into forces that can win, rather than every battle simply being "who has committed more units to this particular fight" while the players just watch

Yea but this unit based warfare doesn't interest me. I'd prefer a more slowed down strategy+tactic based game. Take the board game of Go. You constantly have to be thinking on two levels - "who is winning this particular fight?" and "who is controlling the whole board?" I think that bigger dynamic is what is often missing from strategy games like Starcraft. I found it in Sons of Solar Empire but that game is a dangerous time sink.
