Caff - uping his game, as well as, the number of colours he can sew his hands together with.
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. -Albert Einstein |

Posts here regarding grades don't really seem all that meaningful, but: First semester grades were finally posted, and I somehow scored honors (92% or higher) in all of my classes--something that the staff and upperclassmen stated almost never happens ("Cs make degrees", "P=MD"). Achieving this despite the new stressors in my life outside of academics is pretty affirming for me.

'Meditation is supposedly the only way to Enlightenment because the only way to find this truth is through inner reflection - therefore, what you are finding to be the truth in your personal journey should ultimately be exactly what I find to be the truth, though all of our journeys are unique.'

There's going to be a horrible shortage of primary care docs in the near future. Â Do the right thing, treat the masses*
*At a substantially lower salary than your specialist colleagues, because you know, fuck preventative care. |

Surprised to see ophthalmology on that list - if your procedural skills are tight enough for eye surgery usually you have the chops to also pursue other surgical specialties. |

It's definitely the most challenging of the ones I'm seriously considering. I generally have not been considering surgical specialties for various reasons (personality mismatch, length of training, overall affect), but Optho gets a nod since my research has generally been in that field. I'll be shadowing a Pulmonologist starting Thursday for a course though. I'll have some more to think about once I've made a few rounds on the NICU... |

It's weird in that the procedural specialties all have their personality quirks at an aggregate level, but at the leadership level are indistinguishable. Those that are passionate about advocating for and teaching about surgery are not much different from those that advocate for and teach about primary care. Defining factor is those who consider healing as an academic pursuit, versus those who consider it as a trade. |
