Replaying through first one to get ready for the second (well first playthrough on PC technically, beat it on console but never bothered to go past Blighttown on PC)

I'm getting it for PS3. And there's no indication there'll be GFWL, especially since GFWL is shutting down.

probably will buy, not expecting to get it right out of the gate though.
Let some of the original DS shitheads find the bad exploits and bugs and then i should buy it (06-15-2014, 03:27 PM)negate link Wrote:Hah elder you would be ramming it into Dtrains ass. |

[/quote] I'm so glad GFWL was such a bad flop, the funniest part about that whole thing was that before Valve decided to make Steam themselves, they approached Microsoft with the digital distribution AND patching on one platform idea, and EA, both of them turned them down saying "Oh that's like 10 years off". Origin does okay but only because of mandatory exclusives for EA titles (like Battlefield), but with the quality control we saw there I just can't go there anymore. Desura does good for some indie developers, but Steam is the top of the list and I don't see that changing for a good long while. |

No other game made me suffer through Games for Windows Live.
Dark Souls was a rare gem worth that torture. I got it on a steam sale for $7 and it well surpassed games that sell for 10x that new. |

So Dark Souls 2 controls differently enough from DaS that I have to learn it all over again. I'm dying regularly to the basic hollow enemies. It's refreshing. Only negative so far is that the online wasn't working.

the one thing i never understood was yes it was difficult, but the worst time i had getting through the game was Ornstien and Smough and that just required a small level of patience. Every other boss took me 2 tries max usually. It was a game that punishes you for being stupid and impulsive. I loved it anyway but i never understood why so many people called it uber difficult. It was like playing contra, once you play it a couple times you understand what the fuck is going on and how to react.
My hope is for DS2 to be the same way. Something that may seem unjustifiably hard but only because its new and foreign (06-15-2014, 03:27 PM)negate link Wrote:Hah elder you would be ramming it into Dtrains ass. |

Dark Souls forced you to learn how to play, other games just let you barge past it with lower difficulty levels or poor enemy design. |

imo the thing that makes games good isn't how obtuse or artificially difficult they are

And contra is memorable and iconic precisely because it's unforgiving. It's why Roger Wilco was so good - so many ways to die, and dying is part of the fun. |

That's like saying eve online is difficult. The reason it's enjoyable is because of how punishing it is to fail making it satisfying to succeed. Maybe it's just not the kind of game for you.
