I'm not sure of everyone's feelings on ESO, but has anyone picked it up? I'm not sure of everyone's feelings on ESO, but has anyone picked it up? I'm a bit shy at making new friends, and would rather play with old ones.[

I don't think many, if any, of us have picked up Elder Scrolls. The popular MMO is the F2P Planetside 2, if you ever want to join us.

I'll admit I haven't played a single minute of ESO, but it sounds like it gives up everything that makes other Elder Scrolls games fun. That and paying monthly subscriptions is pretty much obsolete as an income model.

I wouldn't say its obsolete...only if they have a microtransaction cash shop on top of a sub, then that's gouging. Didn't ESO recently get hit with a huge duping bug?  Sig by Joel |

I was in a few of the beta tests...
It honestly DOES feel like Elder Scrolls... kind of... in that they did try to incorporate at the very least decision making that enforces whether certain NPC's join you on a trip... but this ends up with you seeing a bunch of other players looking at nothing at times (they're talking to the NPC's that came along). As a game, it can be fun, and they kept in the usage increases capability as elder scrolls is well known for. But the ultimate question is does it shine above the rest in the mmo world and the answer is no... CAN it... yes... |

I played a few beta tests as well, and I honestly didn't enjoy it. I really wanted to but I just couldn't get into it.
I felt there were a lot of things about it at it's core, not just bugs, that were meh. |

ESO is a game I REALLY want to like, but I'm skeptic about how entertaining an online Elder Scrolls game would be for me.

The plain and simple is that it does not feel like a complete elder scrolls game.

My buddy keeps joking with me that we should go grind it out when the game goes free to play. :p

The only game still able to sustain the monthly model (and even then it still has an up to a certain level free, is WoW primarily because of the fact that everyone at blizzard can retire and just spend on advertising. |

I admit I haven't tried it, but the word of mouth isn't good.
I'm a big ES/Bethesda fan, and one of my other, older, gaming communities tried ESO and it resonated with none of them. |

Why I don't play:
Nanites + Spandex > Magic + Codpieces |

But lets boil it down to the simplest yes/no question.
Is it fun? Yes but with a lot less depth than previous Elder Scrolls game, it DOES hold promise though. |

Is this the same one that can't stick with a game for more than 1 - 2 months, then after their mandatory play period they find some tiny flaw in the game and it somehow ruins all fun for them?
