Finally got around to watching Skyfall.  Overall underwhelming, though Javier Bardem was awesome and the cinematography was gorgeous.

I consider it one of the better Daniel Craig james bond's though. Also, it sets up for a revamping of the series...

The Detective Dee movies on Netflix are good low budget kung fu cinema fun. Detective Dee is like a combination of Sherlock Holmes, Neo, Batman, and Indiana Jones. Yea he is pretty OP.

Watched 12 Years A Slave finally. Really great movie. Lots of solid acting talent, a beautiful score, and good story.

Went and watched new Godzilla 3D.  It was certainly pretty, but I was disappointed by the legions of plot holes as well as the hamfisted and contradictory themes.

My description of the new Godzilla is as follows, a CG Version of the Toho films (man in monster suit) with not enough Brian Cranston.

If you like the classic B Monster movies that are made specifically to be B monster movies the movie is for you.

Watched Wes Anderson's newest flick, The Grand Budapest Hotel; saw some awesome matte painting backgrounds that looked nice and real which was great for the production design overall. Anderson's films seem to have a very adult Dr. Seuss-esque feeling and delivery for interwoven plotlines, and his set decorators and production designer, Adam Stockhausen, reinforce this by creating the majestic and, well, Grand Budapest Hotel.

The story was basically 3 encapsulated into one, starting with an anonymous girl reading the book 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' by a statue of the Author, which then flips to the life of the author, and his first stay in the hotel; where at that moment in time, it had passed it's previous state of glory, and was running slowly into the ground. We are introduced to a few of the hotel's staff, a lively and eccentric bunch, and then we meet the owner of the building, Mr. Moustafa, who retells his fantastical story of the hotel's origins and how he first came about it himself.

Definitely worth a watch imo, surprised it was still in a theatre nearby and I hit it up the other night 8) :o

One of the coolest parts is that each different story is shot in a different aspect ratio. Loved Grand Budapest.

Definitely helped add a bit of of quirky-ness to some of the scenes, like goddamn, what a film.
