Trying my hand at tablet drawing for the first time...
So if I paint my outlines, they're all jaggedy. If I try to just draw the outlines, they're all jaggedy... I'm not even shit at drawing (like my outlines on paper wouldn't suck this much ass)... god this is harder than I first imagined. ???

Photoshop and whatever pen came with the tablet... either way, getting the hang of it a bit more.
I hardly think software or hardware are going to magically give me flawless technique. It's just that I've literally never done this before and I have high expectations for myself... |

That is looking better The tablet version of photoshop is solid, I've used it, but the pen can make a difference, cheaply made pens often have poor contact points (they do still have to transmit your low yield of electric energy through the pen (probably losing a bit of power along the way), then often moving from a contact point behind a rubber piece, plus most touch screens that work in this manner (pretty much any tablet nowadays) still don't use graphite as their screen, but something else that also has a higher resistance. I am not an artist, but taking a closer look at equipment and/or software is always a worthwhile endeavor |

Unless you bought a Wacom, you are going to have a bad time.
Take a look at Alias Sketchbook (Now Autodesk) and Corel Painter. |

Sai is pretty easy to use with a tablet, give it a try!
There is a stabilizer setting you can adjust to give yourself the smooth lines. ask me about mpreg |

It looks like you're tracing over them again and again. This is a bad habit and much less noticeable on paper. You need to practicing loosening up on tablet. Practice lining everything in quick strokes. It'll look like shit at first, but will be much better in the long run. Additionally, if you're going to be flatting like that you can do it much faster by: 1. After you're done lining, duplicate layer 2. Select white space - Select > Modify > Expand 3. Delete part of the lines in the lower layer 4. Go to town with the paint bucket tool. It's way faster. Digital art is all about automation. |
