If you didn't already know this, OVERKILL wants to give us free stuff based on the number of members in the official Steam Group.  This includes making the game free on October 18th for the franchise's birthday.

No, yes. Buy all the DLC. Or at least the Sniper pack, shotgun pack, mod courier pack, and maybe weapon pack 2. Armored transport and weapon pack 1 aren't necessary. And the soundtrack is nice but also not required. Don't worry about the christmas album, someone has an extra copy to give most likely.

e - Big Bank isn't needed either. Unless you want to host that heist. The Falcon Rifle isn't anything special.

Trying to figure out my build and want to know what's better - Pistols or SMG's.

Pistols have more depth than SMGs, but honestly, I don't really use either.  SMGs only have that one skill (which is mediocre), but I find the Para to be a very balanced gun.  Not a lot to say about it, though, since I've been using my Locomotive as a secondary.  The Loco is bonkers.

Pistols, on the other hand, have an array of skills that I haven't played around with, but a lot of players swear by them.  There's even a skill that allows you to get up from being downed by killing someone with your pistol.  Pistol Messiah, I think?

Pistol Messiah is indeed the skill. Basic version = one pickup, Aced = Three. They only replenish if you go into custody. They also still count as downs, so 2-3 downs puts you into B&W, whether you Messiah or get picked up.

I made the IZMA into an explosive assault rifle. It may have taken every skill point I have and only carry two magazines but maybe it's sort of usuable. I don't know though because when we tried using it my computer decided to restart.
