Intelligent dogs have the emotional/social capacity to feel embarrassed when laughed at or shamed when punished. Cats just leech warmth

You give dogs too much credit, most of the way they act is instinctual, saying that they don't actually understand why they act the way they do. This is why dogs look guilty when you tell  them off, they're being submissive to the alpha.

dogs are still pretty smart though they have the capacity for deductive reasoning (around the level of a 2 year old child)
