I expect it to be cheesy and awful, which is why I'm seeing in theaters at a Dine-In and thoroughly enjoying the experience. GENETICALLY ENHANCED DINOSAUR!

you're acting like jurassic park is some standard to be held up to when it's a cheesy flick about dinosaurs cloned from dinosaur dna found in mosquitos and has jeff goldblum

expecting anything objectively good is pointless, enjoy the fucking ride

or just don't see the movie, like any normal person who doesn't like things would do

Jurassic Park had good dialogue, great practical effects, great acting, and such. It is not just "a fucking ride" and I'm sick of seeing these weak excuses for movies that are crap just because "Well what were you expecting?" A movie can be fun AND good. Just look at Guardians of the Galaxy. A silly somewhat campy movie and you know what? It's great! You can have finesse even when making a cheesy flick about dinosaurs.

And you act like Jeff Goldblum is a bad actor.

I don't know how you can sit there and pretend you already know the acting, dialogue, and effects are going to be awful from a 2 minute trailer where the average scene clip was what, 3-4 seconds? Chill out there little buddy.

Also totally not the first set of genetically modified dinosaurs, if we're being pedantic. The entire premise is based on genetically modified dinosaurs (shotgun-spliced with frogs, lizards, etc)

New Star Wars trailer seems to follow the Abrams method of showing explosions and telling next to nothing.

The trailer isn't doing it much favors for acting, dialogue, and practical effects. And I don't have a problem with genetic alterations, I have a problem with "we made a magical super monster, whoops!" It's the laziest and most uninteresting of writing.

The minute and a half Star Wars 7 trailer is running around.  It's nice to see x-wings again.

I don't really want a trailer to tell me anything. The interstellar trailer was perfect. It made me excited but I had no idea wtf the movie was about.

Really?

JP1: Worker is killed; group of experts comes to investigate, and give the park a stamp of approval. Shenanigans ensue, including theft, espionage, dinosaurs amok, and dinosaurs changing their gender in order to breed (thanks genetic engineering). Take-away: we built a monster that we thought we could control, shit went south

JP2: Dr Hammond reveals that there's a site B, where dinosaurs have been living and roaming free for years. His son plans to export the dinos to San Diego, and Hammond wants the gang to stop it. More shenanigans on the island, culminate in the transport of several T-Rex to San Diego. Dinosaurs run amok, generally killing and wreaking havoc, until they're eventually contained and sent back to the island. Take-away: We built monsters that we still can't control

JP3: Does anyone even remember this one?

Without being facetious (the first Alien has almost no themes common with JP that I can think of): care to explain what the JP films are about, if not about uncontrollable monsters? I'm genuinely curious to hear what I'm missing out on.

In a way you're right, the idea of caging a power that we don't understand is a theme of all the Jurassic Park movies (except 3). My problem comes with its simplicity. Jurassic Park played with the idea of commercializing something dangerous and ignorance of man playing god. The central idea of a park with dinosaurs being nuts was the whole point. It's actually where I like the idea of The Lost World, even if the execution was subpar. We had a backup dino island and now we've got to shut it down! Good premise considering the consequences of the last movie. This is where my problem with the World starts. The concept is that the park is just fine. Dinosaurs are just fine, everything's fine. The whole point of the first film is that this scenario isn't possible! The fact that they're using genetic imprinting to brush off the idea that the dinosaurs are uncontrollable animals is really frustrating. On top of that, have dinosaurs gotten so boring that we had to make one up to just to get a rise out of people? Why not just pull another from the pile? Why not come up with something more interesting than "A dinosaur is loose again"?

It just feels colossally lazy to me.

Unfortunately yes, I have those... what do they call them? Pornographic memories? :p

Anyway; "Some tourists land on an island, their one child gets eaten alive by the little carnivorous ones. Another goes missing. They trick some researchers (and hunters) on an 'opportunity of a lifetime' to take them to the island to hunt the most dangerous creatures ever and/or study them in a natural environment (because they survived even though they weren't suppose to), they get there and start yelling for their kids (to which main scientist guy from #1 tells them to stop yelling they're being idiots but they keep doing it anyway)." It's then about 45 minutes of screaming, running, people getting eaten by dinosaurs, and then somehow the kid, scientist, and parents (but none of the rest of the party) gets rescued and the navy shows up to help or some shit. Basically it continues the trend of; "we can't control this shit and exposing people to it is stupid."

Say what you want about the trailer until the actual thing comes out the verdict won't be final for me.

Also the only magic in jurassic park is when Jeff Goldblum is on screen
