Computer kaput, trying to find source of problem

So today I tried starting up the computer I built a few years ago and it would start normally for up to a minute and would shut itself off. I have no idea what the problem may be. Any ideas?
I've been using it daily and it has been fine until today.

Any number of possibilities; one of the most common; your RAM has gone bad; HeK has some recommended testing utilities.

PSU is usually the first thing I would check. If it's a grounding issue or it just died after a couple years of use. Found out after mine died it's usually one of the first parts to fail on a computer.

I assume you have but checking cables and connections both inside and outside of the case and cleaning out dust.

It could be a more serious problem with the mobo or cpu. it's always possible that you can find the culprit and get a replacement under warranty

Yes if I can get a recommended list of troubleshooting things to do then I will get on it during my winter break! I did some googling and it could be a variety of problems but I'm not sure how to go about correctly troubleshooting everything.

Not sure if mobo or cpu warranties last for let's say...2 years?

Update:
I think I fixed the problem
I was motivated to peak inside my computer upon remembering that my paper (due thu) is on my HDD lmao
Turns out one of the wires for the CPU fan got loose from its "bindings" and caught onto the fan and I guess the CPU won't work if the fan isn't spinning?

It might get a little toasty.... also it's a good thing you looked that can burn out a fan motor really fast, you might need to start looking for a new heat sink and/or cpu fan anyway, just in case.
