I have a strange need to try out this mario skin for the engineer. I'm guessing skins in tf2 aren't like skins in unreal tournament. Will installing this skin mean I can only play on custom servers? http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/33351

No, but you'll only see the skin on custom servers. I have a custom skin for my Meatsaw, but it only shows up when I'm in custom servers or the BRB server crashes and reboots on TF2.
edit: That being said, gawd that is a creepy skin. editedit: And before you ask, no, I don't believe anyone else will see the skin. Just you. Unless you're hosting a server.... Then... Maybe? Ripped like paper raped with ease hey scrub nerd pyros suck on these
