I'd support a server over in EU
Hell i'd play on it, my ping wasn't bad when #3the EU #3 was still up

I vote NY, because I live there, but for another reason besides being a selfish prick.
NY is north enough to get Canada decent ping, should be able to get the entire eastern seaboard and most if not all of the US decent pings, and keep the Euro pings not too high.

NY really won't give the entire US good pings.

I'd fancy a Euro server as much as the next person, but imo it comes down to a matter of playerbase. With so many of our Euros gone for a variety of reasons (work, rl, lost interest in the game/community), I don't think we really have all that much of a Euro playerbase to cater to at this point. I don't play much anymore so maybe we have a bunch of new folks from Europe that I don't know about, but afaik Dave is nearly the last of a dying breed

Or we can just bring in the same number of newbies by having a Dallas server. Difference is, with a Dallas server we have a lot more people available at all the right times for seeding [u]that server as opposed to a EU server. Imho, between a lack of excess expendable income, and a lack of a large EU playerbase who are still very active in the BRB:TF2 community, a EU server just doesn't make sense.

Put another way: I think a Dallas server would more than double the freshmeat of the community for 2 reasons:

1) we have 2 servers so double the available slots, blah blah blah this one's common sense.

2) With #2 in a more central location (than either MA or CA) I think a lot more people would be amenable to seeding [u]both servers as opposed to "just the one I get good ping on." Server pop. would immediately diversify. Players now have a legitimate choice between 2 servers and would most likely spread themselves just a bit thinner between the 2 servers. More newbies would have the opportunity to "mix n mingle" with server regulars.

With a EU server, I don't think we'll have server pop. diversifying at all. Do you really think that the number of people willing to seed a EU server is greater than the number of people willing to seed a US-West server? Because that one certainly didn't see much action.

We have a lot of Canadians, I know that's a fact. If all our Canadians changed their vote to "something Canadian" or NY, or whatever (one of you coordinate it if you want a Canadian TF2 server), maybe there would be enough to consider a Canadian server, but it would take a lot of TF2-playing Canadians changing their votes to convince me that Canada is the only location more reasonable than Dallas or Chicago.


Then again the vote is at least "scheduled" to end sometime today, better change your votes quick or appeal to Caff to give you 1 more day to organize yourselves if you want to rival Dallas in terms of votes. GL hippies

i'm just saying, we don't have a large EU player base because we dont have a server in EU..
why would any random want to join a community that doesnt have a server anywhere near them

Can we name the servers by flavor or something?  Like, strawberry server and mint chocolate server.  That way players don't see numeral priority, and won't be fighting to get into #1/avoiding #2 because it's not as top tier lul. 

This seems like a good idea to me but it's like 3:30 am so it might be irrationality kicking in.

Honestly (I can use that now since there's no Honest here anymore, isn't that right SUPER MACHO MAN?) I couldn't care either way for the crits thing. I say make it allcrits and instaspawn just to be exciting.

You should also probably add full uber on spawn just so two demos can't camp a spawn gate.

I vote Dallas as it is central south and I vote changing the names to give an idea of the themes for each server.  But not something laym like Mint Chocolate Cherry with Orange sprinkler for hardcore pewps only.
