Mod Thursdays + PS Fridays = New Contest (8/6 - 8/7)

Sorry my math is a bit sketchy, but I will be running a new contest this week for any _new_ or "fresh off the boat" newish players. Here's how things are going to work, if you have never played PS or played it very sparingly (ie. you logged in once or twice) you are eligible to win, the prize will be something on steam that's less than $50 US, your choice of what the prize is. For this week the other '20 people' contest is suspended.

Someone will win, so if you are the only poor sap that comes out to this, enjoy the game, cause the only way I'm not giving something away is if no one shows  :'(

Requirements:
1) You have never played before or played sparingly
2) You join us in the ventrilo server (il3.leetvent.com, port 3864), mic not required but highly recommended
3) Attend "training" on Thursday which will replace mod nights for this week only
4) Attend both nights (if you can't come for some reason to both let me know)

For Thursday:

Meet on ventrilo at 8pm CST sharp, I will be on roughly around 7:30 to help people with any vent set-up or compatibility issues they have running the game, but make sure that before Thursday you get the launcher to at least download the game (~2gig download). I want everyone there on time so I don't have to go through the same training exercises for each person on an individual basis.

I will walk you through how to change certs, grab gear, set favorite load-outs, acquire & drive vehicles, how to make sense of the user-interface, and basic tactics. We will use one of the other PS Ventrilo channels so we don't bug the other regulars, and once everyone is fitted out we might head out for a battle or two.

For Friday:

We will run with the group proper, I will do the drawing on this day and hopefully if the battlefield cooperates we'll get some epic faggotree in.

Fun in this game increases exponentially with the more people that join up so I hope to see more of the people that stated they were interested in the initial thread to come out, the game is FREE, but you are restricted to 14 days after which you will have to start all over again. If you get "suspended" or banned since the trial accounts are loopholes just make another one. Conversely you can spend $20 to pick up the game at direct2drive, which comes with a free month, this allows you to keep your character instead of having to re-level someone every 2 weeks.

Make sure all .EXE files are running in compatibility mode for Win95 and all the boxes for 'disable vista themes' are also checked.

Remember, the trials sometimes will RANDOMLY suspended you, just a heads up.


If you have issues running the game, make sure launchpad.exe and planetside.exe are both being run in Win95 Compatibility mode

Its definitely one of the more complicated FPS games Ive ever played, like Dystopia or Tribes 1 & 2
