Like Darkchief suggested before with his warioware mod, if possible, why not turn blue into a shenanigans server?

We could run prophunt, freezetag, dodgeball, paintball, keep the lolzy customs, and that new tower defense mod. Hell, lets have randomizer on it!

I would love a lolz server, so if possible, maybe we could run a lolzy night on tuesday? or maybe make brb blue into one?

oh my god i hate spys so much. it takes absolutely no skill yet spys seem to have the biggest egos of anyone i run into. clearly it takes a lot of skill to sit completely invisible in a corner and backstab a medic as he walks by.

if i could make one tf2 change it would be ban spys closely followed by make rockets shoot out of the center. if you play with me you know how much i hate rockets shooting out of the right so that means a lot

also when is the last time both blue and red were full? Everytime I wanna play, it's always people in one or the other and personally I hate blue can we cancel and just keep red?

you have no idea of the logistics of that. You have to edit more than a few server files and restart the whole thing, manually, every mod. every time.

also when is the last time both blue and red were full? Everytime I wanna play, it's always people in one or the other and personally I hate blue can we cancel and just keep red?

yet we just go and kick out the random scrubs on red because we know the people on red and there's no one on blue

1. Red slowly fills - has mostly regulars.
2. Server fills.
3. Other regulars kick out pubs to connect to red in order to play with regulars they know.
4. Go to a custom.
5. Server empties slowly.
6. Red is empty.
Repeat.

thing is, the number of regs is never consistent so sometimes we have a full 24 regs on red which would work fine on blue, but most of the time its more like 6 to 10 regs and 14 pubs, and people just dont want to switch from a full server to an empty one, so if someone says theyre going to blue only like 3 other regs go and the server still dies

I seem to recall about a year ago we tried this, and it didn't work, I changed things to be "silly only", and everyone said "Oh yea, we'll always use it now". Then no one did. Right now its on a random rotation between about 50 customs and the base stock maps.

Some Things about Blue:

- Mods like Wario/Prophunt/TowerDefense are simply not going to happen as they stand now, the amount of effort one needs to put into getting these to work is almost ridiculous, it not too much of a wonder why the people who make them never release the code, because unless you are one of a tiny handful of servers running them, there's no effort/reward associated with it. Unless these become as easy to install (and turn on/off) as sourcemod. If you link me to step by step instructions I'll look into it.


- It fills when people seed it (this goes for Red too...there is no immaculate conception of a game), recently Joel has been doing a decent job of this, however the problem is, its just about him and a few rare times myself that works toward this.


- Pile on Red Effect - people would rather use their reserve slot to get in rather than try to get a game going on the secondary server


- Blue has a far less "favorites" history than Red, Red has been at the same IP from ~2 months after release onward, Blue has changed IPs 3 - 4 times, every time the IP changes, the favorites get wiped.


- Lack of new blood inflow, this sort of falls on all of us, and the lack of newer games where you can recruit people from, new games always come along, these will take people away from TF2, however if you grab people from other games (BFBC2, APB, etc.) someone might just have TF2 and want to play as well. Thus far Ive yet to see one person come to this community from another of those games.


- I can count the number of people putting money into the server fund on one hand excluding myself. I may waste my money as I please  :-*, at least right now there isn't any other game worth me ponying money up for a server that would need for me to cancel blue.


- The silly maps are still there on blue, they are RTV material, if you want to play them they are there. If there's any other maps you want on blue, please let me know.

Depending on what that game it, I could probably host it anyway... my box is sitting on Nuclearfallout pipes and it already costs more than red or blu anyway >_>
