So, I upgraded my computer from 2 GB of Ram to 6GB, and upgraded from 32bit Win7 to 64bit. So When I try to play TF2 last night, expecting my usual 80 FPS, I was dumbfounded by the fact that I'm getting 20 FPS out of Combat and <10 in combat. This is simply unacceptable. I've tried looking online for answers, but to no avail, so I ask ye great IT wizards of BRBu, What can I do to get my previous performance back?
System Specs Nvidia 8800GT (Updated Drivers) 6GB of Ram (2 x 2Gb and 2 x 1GB) Intel E8400 Dual Core 3.0 GHz |

I did a clean reinstall of TF2 on Friday, and downloaded the newest 64-bit Nvidia Driver. I think I'll go back one release on the Video Card driver

You may have a bad memory stick. Try running memtest over night, if you get any errors you know one of your memory sticks is bad. If so, you will need to test each stick one by one to find out which is bad.
Also, why are you using 6GB (in an odd combination too) when your motherboard most likely only supports dual channel memory? |

There's a chance (Don't ask me how to explain it, I can't) that it's using the 2 1GB sticks, or the 2 2GB sticks, or even just one of the sticks.. Can't remember.. but I think it's supposed to have something to do with the RAM being the wrong type for the motherboard

See your motherboard's owner manual for correct memory module sizing and installation order. |

Being that I have tons of experience fucking with my laptop video drivers, just because it's the latest driver, doesn't mean it's the best for your card.
<+Karrde> welp, time to learn some basic patterning skills <@Negate> 12121212121212121212 <@Negate> there is a simple pattern <+Karrde> I changed my mind. Gonna cosplay as a gay demon from hell and get negate raped instead XD <+Caffeine`work> Karrde: Gay demon? Why would you need to cosplay just go as yourself <+FlyingMongoose> Caffeine`work: Karrde would actually have to tone it down some. |

yep, I fixed the problem. First, my CPU was overheating, so some new Thermal Paste fixed that, and I simply just went to 4GB of Ram. FPS is back to normal
