No see it's ok, the dogs love being dressed up by insane people who live vicariously through their pets because they are too bland to achieve anything worthwhile.

Okay, so training was pretty good, very brisk but not information overload.  Thanks, Caff and Rumsfald.  Thanks to Die-Its-Lag as well.

I'm not digging the low survivability chances on what we went up against.  Frequent dying kinda bummed me out and kinda made it hard to get experience--no, not the points, I mean actually fighting and playing.  Got plenty of experience at staging, boarding and dropping, though, so I guess that's something.

Right now I'm gonna try to be on for Friday; depends on how a work project finishes up tomorrow.

You tend to die less the longer you've played, and sometimes, especially when pushing in at a base fight, you almost gotta sacrifice yourself so others can make a more conceited push.

When we do the hot dropping, the goal isn't generally to get back into the phantasms and go fly and find another target, we kill our target and tend to die in the process. The big difference is when we kill one of those robots, the driver has to wait 15 minutes to get another. We take 60 seconds to respawn. If you get a rhythm going in a good environment dropping leaves little 'down time' that a base fight might have.

You have to get experience on how to stage and stay with the team before we get to an actual fight, if you don't know how to keep with the group it gets even worse because they you are both dying frequently, and lost. Sad

Since my dad has off tomorrow, we're going to call our providers to come take a look at this, and see what happens from there. Maybe a new modem, maybe a new cable, hell, maybe squirrels chewed the line up. Who knows.

I'm just hoping that I'll be there without lagging every 10 minutes. Sad

I would also like to add a few more tips with regards to death/dying for those of you new to this...

1) Use 'third person' as often as possible, when ever traveling, but in 3rd person but be ready to switch back to 1st to fire your weapon. This will help you be more aware of your situation, you can use 3rd person to see much more than you would otherwise, including enemies coming from around corners, from the side, or which directions tracer rounds are showing incoming fire.

2) Be aware of your surroundings, the #1 killer in PS is not the guy you saw, but the one who blindsides you, be aware of checking corners, or incoming flanking maneuvers and react accordingly

3) Always in a combat situation run with your gun, in the time it takes to un-holster to fire you could lose most of your life or die

4) Be mindful of balance - PS uses a rock-paper-scissors approach to balance, your big anti-tank laser might melt a big robot but will do piss-poor damage to infantry, there are 5 classes of unit type, Aircraft, infantry, MAX Suit, ground-vehicle, and BFR; each weapon will have different damage values. For example the lancer will do something like this (numbers made up)
Aircraft - 150 armor damage
MAX - 150 armor damage
Infantry - 15 armor damage
Vehicle - 200 Armor Damage
BFR - 300 Armor Damage

This comes directly off dropping 4 of you out of my phantasm and watching you all attack the BFR with pulsars...you at least used the anti-armor mode on them, but the lancer is far more effective.

5) Wait to release (aka Tap) - Most of the higher ranking members have a certification called 'Advanced Medic' this allows us to bring back a corpse who has not 'released' to select a spawn location. Theres a caveat with this unfortunately as shown with Fail last night, sometimes things are bugged and a person's corpse may not appear, might have fallen into the wall or a box, or might be otherwise unreachable due to enemy fire.

In addition to the large amount of vets who have adv med, a simple macro of v-n-m might have you getting rezzed by someone not in our squad.  It is worth it to wait 10 or 15 seconds to see if someone is running around rezzing people unless the only people you can see on your rotating screen are enemies.

Also even though it is largely anti-faggotry I would advocate running some base assaults tonight to get the new people more accustomed to how the game is generally played.  I will happily drive us all to our doom in my death bus tonight to help.  8)
