they need to fix the random weapon swap, and reading the quick swap twice. Seriously,  Uncloak stab engie, Quick switch to sapper knife and get raped by a sentry.

My apologies about a double post, but I was wondering: Would anyone be interested in me recording a few demos or the like? I was modestly interested in doing a few spy commentarys, but lost motivation when a good chunk of my footage became corrupted. I know quite a few on the forums are knowledgeable about spy to begin with, but I figured something that would bring a few more new gentlemen to the fold would be peachy.

Well, more than the DR, since it is a tutorial. Rather, I'd focus on strats for every watch, and ideal situations on ambassador/revolver usage.

So, Vietling, how's that new knife workin' for you? I find the revolver to be a delightful utility weapon, but I prefer the stopping power of revolver/ambassador a bit more.

As for the knife...really isn't my style at all. May run with it for giggles as an undisguised/uncloaking DR spy though.

seriously it is amazing, get some dude while no one's looking, kill a medic buddy and assume his place. i did this 4 times and i'm not even a great spy

it's not that the stealth aspect bothers me, it's the "Avoid a Sentry because you can't disguise, hope for an AFK class that ISN'T Solider or heavy to kill." aspect that I don't like.

get used to cloaking. using default cloak right now because i used my C&D, but yeah it's impossible to use with DR

The problem is the noise level. In order to make sure they don't hear you, you have to decloak farther away than your target, but in order to backstab your target reliably, you gotta cross distance undisguised. It feels like such a catch 22 for anyone who fights aware players.

I'm 100% behind the new revolver though, that's pretty cash.

Downsides to new knife.......

You can not attack an engineer as your first target, you have to *get* a disguise, then attack the engineer, otherwise the SG is going to toast you, or at least a level 3 will.

Does not mix well with dead ringer or original watch, being forced to decloak with no disguise is bad juju

You still have a decloaking noise

All talk on our servers (and others) renders your silent kill, not silent

Take a Soldier/Heavy disguise...enjoy being slow

Take any action with your revolver and you have to stab someone else to disguise again



Upsides

Instant disguise and no noise, get behind a group of people and you can worm your way up




Id like to see some more tactics on this one, honestly the more I think about it, the more practical downsides I can come up with, its cool no doubt, but losing the disguise kit is pretty huge, especially considering your #1 target is engineers with a lv3 SG.

You can rape through the cart pushing blobs if they don't catch you coming up behind them.

Honestly, you can do this with the regular knife just as well, with less risk. All the new knife does is silence the screams, which is a moot point, considering it still shows a kill icon, people can still use their mic to announce your presence, and if you kill a heavy or something in the same vein, you're just slowing the chainstab down. Not to mention the fact that if the team has an IQ above room temperature, they're going to notice when leetle kart starts losing pushers.

As a pyro with a group pushing the cart I just walk backwards and flame anyone that gets near, usually if there's more than 2 people pushing someone is going to be looking back.

yeah I feel this new knife is most suited for maps like 2fort, and other capture the flag maps.

see, the knife isnt "good" yet because you cant be a herpy derpy dr spy with it. reg watch works just fine, you just have to revert to pre spy update to do well. really you have to play like vanilla spy until you get some sniper, then you can actually use the knife
