Okay folks... I can't speak for other admins but during TFT last night I was VERY tempted to turn all-talk off, just to halve the amount of inane chatter that was happening. I'm just as guilty of it as anybody else, but it's getting more and more out of hand.
So, please keep chatter to a minimum, and if others are talking, hold off on what you have to say. And one last point... for gods sakes either get headphones or make use of the lovely mute script! I really don't want to have to mute someone because of the echo they produce whenever they talk. A solution is to make more use of vent. Log into vent before you get on and use vent for the more community based idle chatter and TF2 voicecom for brief idle chatter and game related chatter.

Tried this vent completely overwhelms any TF2 noise/talk, at least with in game voice, it doesn't completely overwhelm in-game stuff  Sig by Joel |

Uh, actually, I wear my headphones around my neck and angle the mic into my mouth. I do this because I want to hear surround without muffling it. How is the feedback on my mic? As it is, people can't hear me unless I eat the mic, so I doubt much is being retransmitted. |

That's the whole point of all talk; To chat while playing-- Can you really think of any other reason all talk would be on? It's not like each team wants the other team to hear where their teleporters or sentries are. [/quote] My point was not to stop talking but to stop the constant, near mindless chatting. People talking has always been fine but when certain kids get excited and have the mic right in their throat and 3 of them just start talking at the same time it gets annoying. Whats even worse is when someone sees that another person is talking yet they continue on with their dialogue. If you see someone else talking on the mic just take your finger off the V key and wait for them to finish. |

Hah. Oh don't be so full of yourself. I would have told you on steam if I was just talking about you. Plus I can't even remember the last time I played a TF2 game with you. |

Uh, I'm cool with people talking.
I'm here to have fun, and so long as people aren't screaming into their mic (unless it's about me reaming them), I'm good. |

People really need to check their mic levels before talking. Do the test in the voice menu, if it sounds distorted, lower your gain/transmit volume. Also, quit whining so much. FNF tonight was effectively ruined for me by people with obnoxiously loud mics doing nothing but complain, whether it be about the current or other maps. If you want to start a discussion, the forum is a great place for it. A little banter is fine, but talking continuously is just as bad as any other form of mic spam.
