if we're talking about the little girl who does illusions yes that part was dumb. some good fights came out of what developed out of that story, but the story was lackluster in general. after that it becomes so goddamn epic |

you sure about that? I mean between the 2 of them NGE and FLCL cover quite alot. I think the only subjects not covered between the two is furries and the application of micro-economics by the World Bank in the late 80s... and thats even questionable.

Gurren Lagann is great, even if I think it didn't get enough episodes and the ending felt kinda balls. I won't say anything further, though. Also, I fear for Code Geass's unblemished state of awesome now that it's on Adult Swim. I just can't help but worry that it'll create a whole bunch of dubbie fantards drooling all over Mr. Red Ranger. |

I wholeheartedly recommend Full Metal Alchemist, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan, Trigun. I remember loving Gundam Wing when I was 11 or 12, how good it looks through my jaded eyes now is a mystery(the same goes for Ruruoni Kenshin). Death Note is generally awesome, although the second half was just decent. I didn't really see what was so special about cowboy bebop(maybe I'l watch it again). If you also like movies then I'd recommend Afro Samurai(short, simple, but great animation), Studio Ghibli stuff is usually pretty good, and the first Hellsing OVA was good dunno about the rest.

Personal favorite animes: Fullmetal Alchemist, FLCL, Bleach, Deathnote, rurouni kenshin, and gundam wing.
As far as bleach goes though, as soon as the soul society series is done just skip past the (06-28-2008, 10:08 PM)Squishy3 link Wrote:
What hawtpawkit said. At that point in the series just skip past all the episodes involving "bounto" or whatever they're called. The section after that it gets good again. |

right now my to do list is:
Desert Punk Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan Maybe last exile (06-29-2008, 01:18 AM)Ceceil Felias link Wrote: Also, I fear for Code Geass's unblemished state of awesome now that it's on Adult Swim. Seen it, gonna see it, seen it several times since it was my reintroduction to anime in highschool, seen it, seen it, Seen all of them and use Castle in the Sky/ Spirited Away as a date night 1-2 punch: Miyazaki must get so much tail, Hellsing you say? I usually tried to avoid the stuff I saw at blockbuster, but ok. |

basically anything made by Shinichiro Watanabe(cowboy bebop), mainly Samurai Champloo. Also check Ergo proxy best anime I've seen
it has masks and body piercing deathblows and the animation is top notch like samurai champloo (same studio) and therefore rocks. episode 11 for crazy shit. +1 for for radiohead outro. gorgeous opening here berserk is nice too animes are generally better when they don't have a manga counterpart or a manga counterpart released prior to the anime's.

The manga I like are:
To-Love-Ru Kashimashi Black Cat Bitter Virgin Soul Eater Ranma 1/2 Azu manga daoi (sp) ... some are kinda girly so enter at your own risk. Also, the Ranma anime is surprisingly funny. Edit: Oh, and Hikaru No Go is pretty awesome. |
