Should get spread out from the pressure. Good luck, if you got other questions or need help, post it. Oh, and make sure you clean the heatsink and cpu.

No way, spread it like you would nail polish across the whole back of the processor, a thin coat.

With AMD processors you put the heatsink on at an angle, if you did this it would spread in the pea sized dot one way and not the other.

???

I've always bought AMD and I've never had to install anything at an angle, just always drop it straight in. You sure it wasn't because you had maybe a cramped case?

Depends on the socket I guess, when I put on my custom Zalman fan it clamped over on an angle. The stock fan was straight on, the previous boards Ive had as well were sort of an on-angle thing too. Maybe its just the way I put them on. I think its better to ensure an even spread by putting it on like nail polish.

Well thermal paste reapplying was a success, after a CTD in STALKER Clear Sky (Man I love STALKER lol) it was looking to be around 50 to 51 after an hour or so of play.

What would AUX be in Speed Fan?  It's a fan, but not sure which and it's saying like 127, but I think it's just glitched cause it isn't cooling down or getting hotter lol

Dangit.  Well I think my CPU is still good, but I had a PC restart while playing STALKER.  Game froze and then restart.  Checked Speedfan when it started up and was looking at 47, so now I'm looking to the graphics card possibly having an issue.

This is also after turning off the automatic restart under startup & recovery.

Anything I should check for?  Pretty positive everything is hooked up properly with that.  Basically just plugged into the slot and then the power plug connected.

Play less buggy games. Tongue

Seriously though, as buggy as the original STALKER is, even to date, I wouldn't worry too much unless it's happening with other games as well. You could always do a ram check while you're at it though, or monitor the temps on your GPU.

Try right clicking My Computer\Manage. Then go to Event Viewer and check the logs.

Sure I know STALKER isn't exactly a glorious piece of game development, but I've never heard of anyone having full system restarts cause of it.  Plus I really like the game lol I was able to beat it before on the last PC with a weaker graphics card and I know STALKER isn't the most powerful game out there, though I'm able to run it on some pretty nice settings.  This one took alot longer to restart to I think.  Must've been over an hour of play when I got it.

Well I'll be trying some more games out here soon like the Portal Prelude mod, so I can test it some more on other games and see if STALKER just hates me more now that I got a better PC to run it lol

Odd.  My CPU cores hit about 65-67 under stress (T7700 Core 2 duo).  Never had any performance problems related to it.  Either way though, fuck all I can do about it since it's a laptop and I've already got a cooler hooked up.

<+Karrde> welp, time to learn some basic patterning skills
<@Negate> 12121212121212121212
<@Negate> there is a simple pattern
<+Karrde> I changed my mind.  Gonna cosplay as a gay demon from hell and get negate raped instead XD
<+Caffeine`work> Karrde: Gay demon? Why would you need to cosplay just go as yourself
<+FlyingMongoose> Caffeine`work: Karrde would actually have to tone it down some.
