Good read, Caff.
So...this is the first I've heard about your site, Zargon. Â It needs an About page or something like that. Do you intend for it to just be a general gaming blog, or are you going for a certain niche? |
I read an article that Digg is super hierarchical, and all about a group of users circle jerking each other, while their sycophants digg everything they submit. Kind of hard to break through But it helps me find funny pictures, so who am I to complain?
Yea, digg has a few "power users" that basically push stuff to the front page, however you can get in, it takes a small group on your own part of 10 - 20 people sometimes to push it onto the 'up and coming' top 10 to keep it visible  Sig by Joel |

Gotcha. The "long view" thing actually sounds like an excellent niche. I can't really think of any competitors, except for maybe the retro segments that some gaming sites do.
Are you planning on doing most of the writing yourself, or would you like to have a number of people contributing? |

I'm trying to avoid having it be too overly-retro, but I do want to keep with the long view theme. i.e., don't just say "old games were better," but examine why they might have been in some cases, or how newer games may have improved (or screwed up) on what has come before. As for the writing, I couldn't possibly generate enough content on my own to fill a site, so I'm always looking for new writers! |

You should do a series called "A cheap-ass gamers guide to gaming on the cheap" or something where you just review freeware and bargain bin old games. That'd catch on pretty good these days.
