I know that in order to use front USB Audio and firewire ports, your mobo has to have "onboard" usb, audio, firewire.
does eSATA work the same way, or does the front eSATA port on the case connect to a regular SATA II port on the mobo? anyone have any experience with this? From my experience it's just a jumper that goes to one of your mobo's sata ports.

That's how I've seen it. Even the rear eSata plate that came with my motherboard works that way.
No idea how the drive is expected to get power. |

All eSata drives I've seen have had power supplies, kind of lame but I guess that's just how it works.

thanks guys, i knew that eSATA devices usually get power by themselves.
