Welcome back to the BRB'U Fight Club, designed to determine just who can claim the title of Ultimate Badass. Round 4 was neck and neck with Fyre always just one step behind the eventual victor Oprah. Tonight's is interesting, as, since I was totally unfamiliar with the contestants, it's written by two lovely volunteers: Versus and Ensign Epic.

And now for Round 5! The matchup:

Why he's a badass:
SIMON'S DRILL IS THE DRILL THAT WILL PIERCE THE HYMENS HEAVENS
In twenty-seven episodes Simon gradually moves up from feckless underground driller who knows nothing about the world beyond his village to battling what amounted to a god in a pocket universe between dimensions for the future of countless Spiral races throughout the universe; he pilots the biggest and most powerful mecha ever; even though Yoko tells Gimmy that "Simon isn't god", Simon could get pretty close if he wanted to (lolspiralpower).

Why he's not a badass:
He turns emo after Kamina dies for like an episode or two; he lets Rossiu character-assassinate him.

Why He’s a Badass
Sho Minamimoto is the second Game Master in TWEWY. He’s a genius among the elite, excelling in all areas except for cooperation. He cannot say anything without using some sort of math terminology. He makes huge sculptures out of trash, and uses a goddamned megaphone when he speaks. Not only that, but he ends up deserting the Reapers and goes rogue, creating Taboo Noise that attack everyone. He’s no slouch in battle either, teleporting all over the place, summoning Taboo Noise, and using energy bursts. His Noise form, Leo Cantus, also teleports, but attacks primarily with kicks. You might beat down his ass, but he then uses a Level i (as in imaginary number) Flare (triggered by reciting the first 156 digits of Pi), destroying your partner and himself. But this isn’t the end of him. Via a Taboo Noise sigil, he is reborn at a power level that is almost as strong as the Composer (think- God). He is basically an excellent Chess Master.

Why He’s Not a Badass
The way he “dies” is less than awesome. He is found crushed by a car and a vending machine, and is not erased like most other enemies. Joshua, who is the partner that Sho destroyed, as well as being the game’s Gay Jesus analog (the Composer), is the cause of this. As per the show, Spiral Races have spiral energy, not just any race that evolves. As per the game, Sho's got his powers. In the spirit of all fictional character fights, you can't just give everyone powers based on one character's universe.

Simon rages and absorbs the flare with his core drill then shoots it back out. As a big drill. That pierces Sho's imaginary number plane. More rage and everything blows up in neon colors.
