Ill toss you a DVD burner later this week

I would help if I could but I always sell what I'm not using to make up for the expensive shit I buy
Ditto on what Caff said about the mobo being very important as a deciding factor on the other components. IE will you have a mobo with SATA? What type of CD Drive do you need IDE? SATA? You could always just get all IDE drives and storage because every motherboard will have these interfaces. Good luck and let me know if you need any help or have any problems. Actually yeah, the mobo is going to be really weird. That's a pretty old processor socket, but that's a PCI-E video card I assume? So would have to find an older mobo that supported PCI-E I guess? I used to have an extra PSU around, most of my other stuff is junk though =X.

Yea, I don't think the processor will actually get used. The problem is like Wedge said: it's old as hell. I doubt anyone has one laying around, so if you're going to bother buying a new motherboard, you might as well get a nice one with a decent processor and future-proof it for a while.

I hear that if you hit the case with a wrench it'll build twice as fast.

Regarding availability of socket 754 hardware, eBay has a whole bunch of a certain brand of motherboard that could potentially work (and for rather cheap), so if funds are too short we can still go with the 754 plan.
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll...ock+K8NF4G It's a similar design to my old and trusty Biostar T-Force motherboard, so aside from the eh-ishness of ASRock, I can confirm that it isn't a bad chipset. |

I just remembered my stepdad has a spare AM2 Athlon 64 that's rated the same as my 754 one, which I'm sure he'll be willing to give. I think it might be a bit lower clockspeed, but it runs better all the same. We don't have to be constrained with legacy motherboards! XD
Also, I have a box that can hold the monitor. I'll be able to ship the stuff soon. |

Bump, with confirmation of AM2 processor. It's even better than I thought -- not a 3200+, but a 3800+. This will prove even better for gaming.
I also need to discuss a couple of things with Neonie. |
